Is this for you?

Who it's for

Couples, friends and families on a north-west Bulgaria road trip get far more than a quick fortress visit: about two hours and 2.9 km of local legends, from St. George's church past museums and a mosque to the fortress, its cliffs and the observatory. Anyone wanting a live guide to ask questions, or unwilling to buy the separate fortress entry each player needs, should choose another outing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a ticket for Belogradchik Fortress to play?
Yes. Each player needs their own entry ticket for the Fortress of Belogradchik, separate from the game. You can buy it along the route when you reach the fortress, during its normal opening hours, so plan your walk to arrive while it is open.
Where does the walk start and where does it finish?
You start at the Church of St. George the Victorious and finish at the Astronomical Observatory of Belogradchik. It is not a loop, so you end up at the other end of town. On the way you pass museums, the Hadji Hussein Mosque, the fortress and its gate and cliffs.
How long does it take?
Most players take just under two hours, covering about 2.9 km with walking and puzzles included. You go at your own pace, so allow extra time if you want to linger inside the museums or at the fortress cliffs.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One game ticket covers the whole group playing together on a phone. Keep in mind that the fortress entry ticket is still needed for every person in the group and is bought on site.
Do we need to book a start time, and can we pause?
No booking is needed. Start whenever you like, with no guide or group to meet, and pause to continue later. The only timing to watch is the fortress, which you can only enter during its normal opening hours.
