About this quest

Follow Seán and Diarmuid and a small group of rebels through the streets of Dublin as you try to reach your brothers in arms to take part in the Easter Rising, perhaps the most famous rebellion in Ireland's rich history.

Is this for you?

Who it's for

History lovers and travellers with Irish roots can walk the Easter Rising as a story, following the rebels Seán and Diarmuid past St Stephen's Green, Trinity College and the GPO. It takes just under two hours over about 3 km, with puzzles set in the streets and buildings you pass. Anyone wanting a live guide to quiz on the politics, or unable to walk 3 km, should pick another option.

Yes. This quest is played on your phone and follows Seán and Diarmuid as they try to reach their brothers in arms for the Easter Rising. It visits key sites including St Stephen's Green, the Shelbourne Hotel, Trinity College, O'Connell Street and the GPO. It is free to play and you can start any time.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at the Royal College of Surgeons and finishes on Middle Abbey Street, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass St Stephen's Green, the Shelbourne Hotel, Fields Jewellers, the Stag's Head, Merchant's Arch, Trinity College, the Daniel O'Connell statue and the GPO.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
The route is about 3 km, and most players take just under two hours, including the walking, the stories at each stop and the puzzles. You can pause along the way and continue later, so there is no need to finish in one go.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play in the evening?
There is no time slot to book and no group to join, so you start whenever suits you. The route is open 24 hours a day, but it is better in daylight, when the buildings and details the puzzles rely on are easier to see.
Can we play it as a group of friends or family?
Yes. The quest is free to play, so friends or family can walk the route together and work on the puzzles as a team. There is no guide to wait for, and you set your own pace between the stops.
