Frequently asked questions

Is this a treasure hunt I can do in Florence on my own?
Yes. You follow the trail of a stolen painting on your phone, hearing the story of the Medici, their enemies and the plots against them, and solving a puzzle at each stop. There is no guide and no group to join, so you set the pace yourselves.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at San Lorenzo Church and finishes at the Courtyard, so it does not end where it began. In between you pass the statue of Giovanni delle Bande Nere, the Medici chapel, Palazzo Medici, the Duomo, Piazza della Repubblica and Palazzo Strozzi.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 95 minutes, a little over an hour and a half, including walking and puzzles. The route covers about 2.1 km. You can pause at any point and continue later if you want a coffee or a longer look at a place.
Is it suitable for children, and can we play as a group?
The quest is tagged family friendly and also fun to do as a couple. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route, so a family or a group of friends can follow the story and solve the puzzles side by side.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play in the evening?
No time slot is needed: you start whenever you like. Playing at night is not recommended, so plan to walk in daylight, when it is easier to spot the details the puzzles ask you to find.
Is the stolen painting case real?
No. The painting theft is fictional. The Medici connection provides Renaissance context for an original outdoor game story.
Is it a Florence art-museum tour?
No. It is a city puzzle game and does not include museum admission or a guided collection visit.
How many tickets does our group need?
This classic quest sells access per device and player. Each person who wants to solve clues on their own phone needs their own access.
