Frequently asked questions

What is the game and how does it work?
It is a self-guided walk played on your phone. The app leads you from place to place through central Glasgow, tells the story of each stop and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you. There is no guide to follow and no group to join.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at The Horseshoe Bar, then takes in Nelson Mandela Place, The Lighthouse, Glasgow City Chambers, the St Enoch cradling St Mungo Mural, Provand's Lordship, the Tennent's Brewery Murals, Tolbooth Steeple and The Ramshorn. The route loops round to finish at the Gallery of Modern Art.
How long does it take and how far is it?
Most players take about 2.5 hours, including the walking and the puzzles, and the route covers 4.6 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, so it is easy to stop for a coffee or a meal along the way.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. There is no time slot to book: you can start whenever suits you, since the app guides you rather than a live tour leader.
Is it an outdoor walk, and what if it rains?
The quest is a walk between outdoor stops in the city centre and old town, so dress for the weather. If a shower comes through, you can pause the game, shelter for a while and pick up again where you left off.
Is Highlights of Glasgow: The Mysterious Force Field self-guided?
Yes. The Questo app guides you between locations without a tour guide or fixed departure. You can start when it suits you and pause if needed.
