Frequently asked questions

Can I use this as a historical walking tour of Glen Ellyn?
Yes. The app walks you through 13 downtown stops in order, including the McChesney Store, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company, St. Petronille, the downtown murals and the train station. It tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle using what is in front of you.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
You start at the Glen Art Theater and finish at the Mansion House. The route covers about 2.6 km, and most players take around an hour and 45 minutes, including walking and solving the puzzles along the way.
Is it good for kids?
It suits older children best. The puzzles are rated medium difficulty and are solved out in the real world, so kids who enjoy reading clues, spotting details on buildings and murals, and walking a little over 2.5 km will get the most from it.
Can we play as a group, and does it cost anything?
It is free to play, and it is designed for teamwork, so gather family or friends and solve the clues together. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank, since the app guides you for the whole route.
Do we need to book a time, and can we take a break?
No booking is needed. You can start whenever you like, with no group to join and no guide to meet. If you want to stop for a coffee or call it a day, pause the quest and continue later from where you left off.
