The experience

About this quest

This is the story of a bear named General who lived in Oregon a long time ago. In 1903, he mysteriously disappeared. His extended family still lives here (and you’ll meet some of them along the way), and they’ve hired you to investigate his disappearance.

Find out where Bear General went - and why! Along the way, you’ll uncover local history, discover interesting spots around Government Camp, and maybe even solve a mystery that’s been puzzling the family for over a century.

Is this for you?

Who it's for

Families with children of about 6 to 12 spending time in Government Camp on a Mt Hood trip get to play detective, tracking General, a bear who vanished in 1903. Over a little more than an hour and just 1.1 km, kids solve puzzles while parents pick up Oregon Trail and village history. Anyone after a real hike or a live guide to question should look elsewhere.
