What makes this quest special

Highlights

  • Eat tapas, drink, and be merry in five picturesque plazas at the heights of the Upper Albaicin.

  • Enjoy the view of the Alhambra Palace from San Nicolas Square. See where the locals go for tapas and explore the authentic tastes of Granada.

  • Drink in spectacular views of the city of Granada below.

  • Bask in the incomparable ambiance of the historic Albaicin.

  • The tapas bars named, and many others en route, offer free tapas when you buy a glass of wine, beer or soft drink. But the rules for free tapas in Granada can change during peak times and can depend on where you sit. Always double-check the "free tapas" situation with the waiter before you sit down to avoid disappointment.

  • Granada gets incredibly hot during the summer. Always check the weather forecast before you depart and take water with you.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a tapas tour of Granada?
Yes, it is a self-guided tapas trail through the upper Albaicin, away from the busier bars of the centre below. It leads you to the plazas where locals and visitors gather for tapas, with very easy challenges and views along the way. There is no guide and no fixed tasting time.
Where does the tapas trail start and finish, and which places does it visit?
It is a circular route starting at Placeta Carniceros. It then passes Plaza Larga, Plaza Aliatar, Mirador de San Nicolas, Placeta San Miguel Bajo and Mirador de la Lona, with the last stop at Mirador de San Cristóbal. The whole walk covers about 1.6 km.
Can I pause the trail in Granada and continue later?
Yes. You can pause at any point, for example to linger over tapas in one of the plazas, and pick up where you left off later. Since you play on your own phone, you set the pace for the whole route.
How long does it take?
Most players take about two hours, walking and challenges included, over a distance of around 1.6 km. If you stop for tapas and drinks at the plazas, plan for longer, especially in the evening.
Do we need to book a time or join a group?
No. The quest is free to play, and you can start whenever you like without joining a group or meeting a guide. Friends or couples can play together at their own pace through the upper Albaicin.
