Frequently asked questions

Is this a self-guided walking tour of Haarlem?
Yes. You play it on your phone, and the app leads you from place to place, tells the story of each stop and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, and it is free to play.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Galerie Gemund and finishes at Molen De Adriaan, so it does not end where it began. In between you pass Hodshonhuis, Teylers Museum, De Waag, the Grote of St.-Bavokerk, the Vleeshal, Haarlem City Hall, the Noord-Hollands Archief and Teylers Hofje.
How long does it take and how far is it?
Most players take about an hour and a half, walking and puzzles included. The route covers 2.2 km through the centre of Haarlem. You can pause along the way and continue later if you want a break.
Do we need to book a time, and can we play as a group?
No booking is needed. You can start whenever you like, and because the quest is free to play, friends or couples can simply set off together and solve the art mystery side by side.
