Frequently asked questions

Where does the Karahori walk start and finish?
It starts at the Haikara Horii Arcade Entrance and finishes at Matsuyamachi Shopping Street, not back at the start. On the way you pass Karahori Alley Well, Toen Park, Tajima Kita Fureai Plaza, Enoki Daimyojin Shrine, the Osaka Castle manhole covers and the UHA Mikakuto candy company.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 80 minutes, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers about 1.5 km of narrow alleys, quiet corners and local shopping streets. You can pause at any point and carry on later, so there is no need to rush.
Is it good for kids?
The difficulty is rated easy and the puzzles are solved using what you see around you, so school-age children who enjoy looking for clues usually manage well. The route has uneven ground and stairs and is not wheelchair accessible, so pushchairs may be awkward in places.
Do we need to book a time or join a group?
No. The quest is free to play and you start whenever you like on your phone, with no tour group and no guide. Friends or family can walk it together. Make sure your phone is fully charged or bring a power bank, as the app leads you the whole way.
