Yes. This self-guided walk is built around horror and haunts. It tells the darker stories of Carcassonne at each stop, including the Museum of the Inquisition and a haunted house inside the Cité, and finishes at the Château Comtal. Your phone leads the way and sets a puzzle at every place.
Is there a self-guided clue game (jeu de piste) in Carcassonne?
Yes. You follow clues on your phone from place to place, hear the story of each spot and solve a puzzle based on what is in front of you. The route covers the town outside the walls before entering the citadel through the Porte de l'Aude and the Porte Narbonnaise.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at Square Gambetta and finishes at the Château Comtal, so it does not return to the start. The route is about 2.2 km, and most players take around two hours including walking and puzzles. Expect varied terrain and climbs as you head up into the Cité.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or a couple can follow the clues on one phone and solve the puzzles as a team. There is no group to join and no guide, so you set your own pace along the route.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No set time is needed. You can start whenever you like, unlike a guided evening tour at a fixed hour. You can also pause partway, for a meal or a rest in the Cité, and continue the walk later from where you stopped.
