Does the walk visit the Freedom Monument in Riga?
Yes. The Freedom Monument is the first stop, where the walk begins. From there the route continues to the Nimfa fountain, Benjaminu Nams and the Museum of Krisjanis Barons, then through the parks, before finishing at the Laima Clock.
Is this a self-guided walking tour of Riga?
Yes. You play on your phone with no guide and no group to join. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle using details in front of you, from artists and rebels to chess, chocolate and theatre.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 95 minutes, walking and puzzles included, over roughly 3 km. It is a loop that starts at the Freedom Monument and finishes at the Laima Clock, passing Vērmanes dārzs, Kronvalda Park and Bastejkalns along the way.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
It is free to play, so friends or family can take part together. There is no time slot to book: start whenever suits you, and you can pause and continue later if you want a break or prefer to split the walk.
Is the route outdoors, and what if it rains?
Yes, the route runs through Riga's central parks and past outdoor monuments, so dress for the weather. Because you can pause and pick up again later, it is easy to wait out a heavy shower and carry on from where you stopped.
