Puzzle and mystery fans, and visitors who already know the centre, follow a 1951 story about a ship engineer's hidden blueprint. The route crosses the IJ by ferry to the old NDSM shipyard and finishes at the Crane, with about two and a half hours of walking and clue-solving. If you want the classic canal-ring sights, a live guide to question, or a walk shorter than 4.3 km, pick something else.

Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at the stop called Arrival in Amsterdam and finishes at the Crane on the north side of the IJ, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass The bridge that never closes, The gallows, The stone silo, Ship, Pontsteiger, the Ferry, Pleasant Encounters, Lasloods, NDSM and DOK.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take about two and a half hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers around 4.3 km on foot, plus a ferry crossing. You can pause and pick it up again later, so there is no need to finish in one go.
Does the walk go to the NDSM area?
Yes. After crossing the IJ by ferry, the second half of the route takes in Lasloods, NDSM and DOK before finishing at the Crane, giving you a story-led walk through the old shipyard and harbour fronts.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together on a phone. There is no set start time and no group to join, so you can begin whenever suits you. No attraction tickets are needed for any of the stops.
What if it is cold, and can we play in the evening?
The game is played outdoors, but if the weather turns cold you can pause and go inside to warm up at almost any location along the route, then continue. Playing at night is not recommended, so plan to start with enough daylight for about two and a half hours.
