Over about 75 minutes and 1.8 km of easy walking you meet the camels and falcons, browse perfume and spice stalls and find the giant pots, solving puzzles along the way. The whole route is outdoors, so anyone wanting a live guide or an air-conditioned indoor outing should pick something else.

What is Souq Waqif in Doha?
Souq Waqif, the standing market, has been a hub for hundreds of years where merchants and travellers met to trade spices, pearls, food and textiles, long before the modern city rose around it. The route leads you through its alleys and quiet courtyards, past perfume and spice sellers, the camel pen and the falcons.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at The Water Well, opposite Al Said Sweets, inside Souq Waqif. The route is a loop, so the final stop brings you back to the same well, which makes it easy to meet up again, find a café or head home afterwards.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Plan on around 75 minutes for about 1.8 km of walking, rated easy. You can pause at any point to shop, eat or rest in the shade, then continue later from where you stopped. Bring a fully charged phone or a power bank.
Is it good for children?
Yes, it is tagged family friendly with an easy difficulty level, and stops such as the camel pen, the falcons and the giant pots tend to hold children's attention. Younger ones will enjoy it most with an adult reading the clues. Bring hats, sunscreen and plenty of water, as it is all outdoors.
Do we need to book a time, and when is best to go?
No time slot is needed, you start whenever you like. The souq is open 7am to 12.30pm and 4pm to 10pm daily, and 12.30pm to 10pm on Fridays. Many people go in the cooler evening hours, when the alleys are lively and the heat has eased.
