Starting and ending at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, this 2 km loop passes the Hawkins Sculpture Walk, The Health Museum and the Cancer Survivors Plaza as you outwit a witch from Baum's 1900 Oz novel. Friends who want an escape room in the open air get around 90 minutes of puzzling. Anyone set on an indoor room, or with children too young to read clues, should look elsewhere.

What is the Oz game in Houston?
It is a self-guided, outdoor escape-room-style game played on your phone. You follow clues to a dozen stops around the Houston Museum of Natural Science and solve puzzles to outsmart the witch. The new story is inspired by L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel, with original Oz-themed songs written for the game.
Is it an event on a set date, or can we play any time?
There is no fixed event date or time slot to book. You start whenever you like, no guide or other group joins you, and you can pause and continue later. That makes it easy to fit around a museum visit or a free afternoon in Houston.
Is this a good escape room for kids in Houston?
Families with children are among its main players, and the route passes the Children's Museum Houston and The Health Museum. The puzzles are escape-room style, so children who can read clues and work them out alongside an adult will get the most from it. Expect about 2 km on foot.
