A experiência
Sobre esta experiência
Travel back to the delights of sea bathing in Victorian Margate.
In this quest you are racing against the imminent arrival of the Paddle Steamer, bringing with it a rather straight-laced Aunt.
See if you can enjoy some of the many delights that there were on offer for the Victorian holidaymaker at this highly popular sea resort and still make it to your Bathing Hut in good time to enjoy a rejuvenating dip just as you like it.
Telescopes are optional!
É para si?
Para quem é
Day-trippers and weekend visitors curious about Margate's Victorian sea-bathing days will enjoy this story-led stroll, racing a paddle steamer from Dreamland past the Harbour Arm and Walpole Bay to The Albion Rooms. Couples and families with older children get a seafront puzzle walk instead of a museum visit. Skip it if 3.2 km on foot is too far for you, or you want a live guide to question.

Perguntas frequentes
Is this a guided beach tour of Margate?
It is a self-guided walk played on your phone, with no guide and no group to join. The app leads you along the seafront and through town, past the Harbour Arm, Fort Promenade, the Lido and Walpole Bay, telling each place's story and setting puzzles along the way.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Dreamland and finishes at The Albion Rooms, so it does not return to the start. In between you pass the Clock Tower, Market Place, the Harbour Arm, Turner Contemporary, Fort Promenade, the Lido, Walpole Bay and the Tom Thumb Theatre, about 3.2 km in total.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take just over two hours, walking and puzzles included. You can start any time without booking a slot, pause whenever you like for a coffee or a paddle, and continue later from where you stopped.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it suits families, though children under 12 should be guided by their parents through the puzzles and the route. Older children usually enjoy the race against the paddle steamer most. It is best played in daylight, as playing at night is not recommended.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends or a family can follow the story and solve the puzzles side by side on the same walk.
