Families with older children, friend groups and active couples will enjoy playing a treasure hunt rather than sitting through a lecture. Over about three hours you cover 3.1 km of Old Nice, from the flower market up Castle Hill for its views, collecting local anecdotes as you solve each puzzle. If a hill climb and three hours on foot feel like too much, or you would rather have a live guide, pick something shorter.

Is there a treasure hunt in Nice?
Yes. In this self-guided quest you play an adventurer searching for a hidden treasure across Old Nice and Castle Hill. The app leads you through 12 stops, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. You can start whenever you like.
What does Marché aux Fleurs mean, and is it on the route?
Marché aux Fleurs means flower market. It is the fourth stop on the route, reached after La chaise bleue and L'Oulivié and before the #ILoveNICE sign and the climb towards Tour Bellanda and the castle.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at the Fontaine du Soleil and finishes at the Crypte de Nice, so it does not return to the start. Along the 3.1 km route you pass Tour Bellanda, the Cascade, the château, the Chapelle de la Sainte-Trinité, Palais Lascaris and Bar René Socca.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around three hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. There is no need to do it in one go: you can pause the game, take a break or stop for food, and continue later from where you left off.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the same phone. There is no time slot to book and no group to join, so you start whenever suits you. No attraction tickets are required for any of the stops.
