Ghost story fans on a short stay in Tórshavn, such as cruise and ferry passengers or weekend visitors, get a self-paced haunted walk through Tinganes, the Old Town and two old cemeteries, solving riddles and codes as they go. Which haunted places in Tórshavn does the walk visit?
The route takes in creepy stories at The Old Cemetery, Tórshavn Cathedral, the Old Town at Undir Ryggi, the Tinganes District and the Old Cemetery of Reyni, along with monuments and old houses between them. Some of the local stories have been largely forgotten even by people who live in the town.
Where does the ghost walk start and finish?
It starts at The Prefect's Castle (Amtmansborgin) and finishes at The Fort, so it does not end where it began. In between, the app guides you on foot through 11 stops in total, covering about 3 km of Tórshavn's centre.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take just over two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. There is no fixed tour time to book, so you can start whenever you like, pause for a coffee or a break, and continue later from where you stopped.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends, couples or families can follow the route side by side on a phone, read the stories and work out the riddles and codes as a team.
Do we need tickets for any attractions along the route?
No attraction tickets are required, as the stops are places you can visit from the street. Be aware that some checkpoints may have temporary construction work, so a stop might look a little different from what you expect.
