Fog creeps along the cobblestones, and everything is strangely still. You don’t know your name, or how you got here… only the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 echo in your mind. Then, a blurred figure appears and whispers: “Find them… find all five.”
Step into a ghostly version of Rheine and begin your journey through eerie alleys, forgotten corners, and mysterious landmarks. Solve real-world puzzles, follow cryptic clues, and uncover the stories of the five lost spirits. Are there set haunt hours, or can we play the ghost hunt any time?
There are no fixed hours or tour times. You start whenever you like, and you can pause and continue later. The story is set in a foggy, ghostly version of Rheine, and the quest notes that nighttime is better, so many players go after dark.
Do we need to book a ghost hunter or a time slot?
No. There is no guide and no group to join, so you do not book a time. The app leads you from place to place on your phone, tells the story of each stop and sets the puzzles. One ticket covers the whole group playing together.
Where does the ghost hunt start and finish?
It starts at the Jewish Cemetery and finishes at the Basilikakirche, so it does not end where it began. On the way you pass stops such as the House of lost souls, the Hermann Krug mural, the Falkenhof, the Jakobikirche and the Nepomukbrücke.
How long does it take and how far do we walk?
Most players take about two hours, including the walking and the puzzles. The route covers around 3.3 km through Rheine's alleys and landmarks, with eleven stops in total. You can pause at any point and pick up the game again later.
Is Haunted Rheine a real paranormal investigation?
No. It is a fictional ghost-story game. The app guides you through Rheine with clues and puzzles; it does not claim to prove paranormal activity.
