Frequently asked questions

Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Palazzo Farnese and finishes at the Colosseum, so it is not a loop. Along the way you pass Piazza del Biscione, Largo di Torre Argentina, Piazza del Campidoglio, the Altare della PĂ tria, Trajan's Column, via dei Fori Imperiali and the Basilica di Massenzio.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take about two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers 3.6 km on foot through the centre of Rome, ending at the Colosseum. You can pause at any point and continue later from where you stopped.
Is it free, and can we play as a group?
Yes, it is free to play. Friends, couples or families can follow the route together on a phone, reading the story of each place and working out the puzzles as a team. There is no group to join and no guide.
Do we need to book a time?
No booking is needed. The quest is self-guided in the app, so you can start whenever you like from Palazzo Farnese, take breaks along the way, and pick it up again later without losing your progress.
Is the route outdoors?
Yes. The stops are squares, streets and monuments seen from outside, from Piazza d'Aracoeli to via dei Fori Imperiali, so you will be walking in the open for most of the two hours. Check the weather and dress for it before you set off.
