Quests for classes

Quests a class can play in Wroclaw

A school day with Questo in Wrocław is built around one quest, Wroclaw: Legacy of old Breslau. It takes classes through the oldest parts of the city. Teams start on ulica Piłsudskiego, the street of Wrocław Główny station. They pass Ofiar Oświęcimskich, Plac Solny, the Yas House, the University and Nowy Targ, then cross the Oder to Piasek Island and Tumski Island, the oldest part of the city. The route comes back along bulwar Xawerego Dunikowskiego. It is pitched at pupils aged 8 to 11 (Key Stage 2), covers 5.2 km in about two and a half hours, and is available in English and Spanish.

Teams, supervision and logistics

    MoreLess

  • Getting around

    MPK Wrocław runs the trams.

    MoreLess

Its bilet grupowy covers up to 15 people for 30 minutes, so a class needs two. Główny station to the Rynek is 20 to 25 minutes' walk.

  • Toilets

City-run toilets, including one on Plac Solny by the Rynek, cost 1 zł per cubicle, usually in coins, and most open at 10:00.

    MoreLess

Galeria Dominikańska and Renoma shopping centres have free toilets.

  • Lunch

Wyspa Słodowa, an Oder island near the Rynek, is the centre's most popular picnic spot.

    MoreLess

Bulwar Dunikowskiego, by Most Grunwaldzki, is quieter. Keep pupils back from the water's edge.

  • Wet weather

A Panorama Racławicka ticket also covers the National Museum's permanent galleries, which are free on Saturdays.

    MoreLess

Galeria Dominikańska offers dry shelter. The quest can be replayed free within 30 days.

Caution: Pickpockets target Wrocław Główny station, crowded rush-hour trams and the Christmas Market, so team phones should stay in a zipped pocket between clues.

Teacher FAQ

Questions about Wroclaw

Which Wrocław quest suits our pupils?
Wroclaw: Legacy of old Breslau is aimed at pupils aged 8 to 11, so it fits Key Stage 2 and works well as a gentle start for younger Key Stage 3 groups. It is available in English and Spanish.
How long does the quest take?
Allow about two and a half hours of play over 5.2 km and 15 stops. With a lunch pause, it fills most of a school day. You can pause at any point and carry on later, which helps with younger pupils.
How many pupils share a phone?
Teams of 3 to 5 pupils share one phone, either a teacher's or a pupil's. A class of 30 needs about six to eight phones. Teams can start a few minutes apart, so they are not all at the same stop at once.
Where does the quest start?
It starts at Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego 58, on the same street as Wrocław Główny station. Trams 8 and 9 stop on ulica Peronowa by the station. Use the free teacher preview to check the walk to the start before the trip.
How much does it cost?
It costs 5 euros per pupil. Teachers and chaperones play free. You can pay by card or by invoice, and there is no booking slot to reserve.
What happens if it rains?
Pause the quest and take shelter. Hala Targowa, the covered market by Piasek Island, is right on the route, and the National Museum has free permanent galleries on Saturdays. If the weather ruins the day, you can replay the quest free within 30 days.
Do pupils need accounts or mobile data?
Pupils do not need accounts. Each team's phone needs mobile data, or the quest should be downloaded beforehand over Wi-Fi, for example at school or the hotel.
