Is this for you?

Who it's for

First-time visitors, couples and small groups follow the tamada, Georgia's toastmaster, from Sioni Cathedral past the Sulfur Baths and up to Narikala Fortress, toasting Georgian life while solving puzzles. It is free to play and takes just under two hours in daylight. If steep climbs and plenty of elevation change are hard for you, or you would rather have a live guide to question, pick a flatter option.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an app that tells the story of the tamada in Tbilisi?
Yes. This quest is played on your phone, and the Toastmaster leads you through a series of toasts to the virtues of Georgian life. The app guides you between stops, including the Tamada Statue, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Sioni Cathedral and finishes at Freedom Square, so it is not a loop. Along the way you pass the Tamada Statue, the Sulfur Baths, the Bridge of Love, Narikala Fortress, Mother of Georgia, Betlemi Viewpoint, the Temple of Fire and Public School #58.
How long does it take and how hard is the walk?
Players typically take around 100 minutes, just under two hours, including walking and puzzles. The route covers about 2.8 km up and down hilly Tbilisi, with a decent amount of elevation change, so wear good shoes and expect some climbing on the way to Narikala.
Can we play in the evening?
It is best played during the day. Some locations on the route may be difficult to navigate at night, so plan to start early enough to finish at Freedom Square in daylight, allowing just under two hours for the whole walk.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking is needed. The quest is free to play, there is no group to join and no guide, so you start whenever suits you during the day. You can pause, stop for a coffee or a bath, and continue later from where you left off.
