Yes. It is a self-guided murder mystery played on your phone as you walk the Lower East Side, Chinatown and Civic Center. The app tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you while you follow a mysterious beauty through the streets.
Where does the murder mystery walk start and finish?
It starts at Katz's Delicatessen and finishes at Beekman, a Thompson Hotel/Temple Court, so it is not a loop. On the way you pass the Tenement Museum, Eldridge Street Synagogue, Doyers Street, Columbus Park, City Hall and the Woolworth Building, about 3.9 km in total.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around two and a quarter hours, including walking and puzzles. You can pause whenever you like, stop for a bite or a drink at places such as The Pickle Guys or Apotheke, and continue later from where you left off.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together, so friends can solve the mystery side by side on the same game. There is no group to join and no fixed slot to book. You start any time you are standing at Katz's Delicatessen and ready to go.
Is it like an escape room in the Lower East Side?
It shares the puzzle solving, but it all happens outdoors on real streets rather than in a room. You crack clues tied to places along the route, from Beauty & Essex and The Back Room to Foley Square, so plan for the weather on the day.
