Questions fréquemment posées
Is this a ghost tour of Mérida?
It is a self-guided ghost story played on your phone. You help a lost ghost named Ian find his way to the afterlife, meet mystical creatures from Maya legend and piece together clues about his past as you walk past landmarks such as the Monumento a la Patria and the city's cathedral.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Monumento a La Patria and finishes at Plaza Principal de Mérida, so it does not return to the start. On the way you pass Quinta Montes Molina, the Casas Gemelas, Parque de Santa Ana, Parque de Santa Lucía, the Palacio de la Música and Mundo Maya.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take just over two hours, walking and puzzles included, and the route covers about 3.5 km. It is outdoors in the sun, so start in the morning, wear a hat and sunscreen, carry water and bring a charged phone or power bank. You can pause and continue later.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, it is tagged family friendly. The spooky side comes from a story-led ghost tale and Maya legends rather than late-night scares, and the puzzles are solved by looking at the places in front of you. Children will need to manage around 3.5 km of walking in the heat.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes, one ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route. There is no time slot to book and no group to join, so you can start whenever suits you, ideally in the cooler morning hours.
