Mostar - a city on the Neretva river, a city of guardians of ancient bridges, after which it got its name. 

Walking around Mostar today, after almost three decades since the war, is an unusual feeling. The mixture of three cultures and religions make this city truly special. 

Because of its beauty, because of its history, Mostar truly has a soul.

Day-trippers from Dubrovnik, Split or Sarajevo with a few hours in Mostar can see the Old Bridge, Crooked Bridge and Peace Bell Tower on their own, with a story and a puzzle at each stop. It is free to play, 1.1 km and around 80 minutes, with no tour time to book. Anyone hoping to quiz a guide about the war years should book a guided tour instead.

Yes. This quest is played on your phone. The app leads you from place to place through the old town, tells the story of each stop and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you. There is no guide and no group to join, and it is free to play.
Is there a free walking tour of Mostar?
This is a free, self-guided walk rather than a guided tour. You follow the route on your phone, visiting the Franciscan church and monastery, the Mostar Peace Bell Tower, the Crooked Bridge, the beach below Stari Most, the Old Bridge and the Hamam Museum. Start whenever you like.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at the Franciscan church and monastery and finishes at the Hamam Museum. It is not a loop, so you end up near the Old Bridge rather than back at the start, which is handy if you want to stay in the old town afterwards.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 80 minutes, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route itself is short, about 1.1 km, so it fits easily into a day trip with time left over for lunch or a longer look at the Old Bridge.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking is needed. You can start at any time that suits you, with no fixed tour slot to catch. You can also pause the quest along the way and continue later, for example to stop for coffee or photos by the river.
