Does this walk cover Akron's Rubber City history?
Yes. Akron was once known as Rubber City, and the route visits downtown places tied to that heritage, including the Akron Rubber Worker Sculpture and the Charles Goodyear Statue. The app tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts on S Main St and finishes at Lock 2 Park, so it is not a loop. In between you pass Lock 4 Park and its mural, Cascade Plaza, S High St, St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Mayflower Building, the Marathon Finish Line and Canal Park.
How long does it take to walk the route?
The route is about 2 km, and most players take around 80 minutes, or close to an hour and a half, with walking and puzzles included. You can pause at any point and continue later if you want a coffee break along the way.
Can we play as a group?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on the route, so friends, couples or families can walk and solve the puzzles side by side. There is no group to join and no guide to wait for.
Do we need to book a time, and when is best to go?
No booking is needed; you can start whenever you like. The route is open 24/7, but it is better during daylight hours, when the murals, statues and canal locks are easier to see and the puzzles are easier to solve.
