The two are closely linked parts of the East End, and this walk shows how. The route moves from Brick Lane Arch and Brick Lane Mosque to Christ Church, Spitalfields and Spitalfields Market, then back towards the Truman Brewery, tracing the communities who shaped both.
Is this a guided Brick Lane tour?
It is self-guided on your phone, with no guide and no group to join. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place through an imagined textile designer, and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. Start any time that suits you.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Whitechapel Gallery and finishes at The Golden Heart, so it is not a loop. Along the way you pass Brick Lane Mosque, Christ Church, Spitalfields, Spitalfields Market, Dennis Severs' House, the Grey Eagle graffiti wall and the Truman Brewery.

Most players take a little over two hours, including walking and solving the puzzles. The route covers about 3.1 km. You can pause whenever you like, stop for food or a browse in the markets, and continue later.
