Bangor was made a City by Queen Elisabeth II during her platinum jubilee honours. 

Just the latest chapter in a long and distinguished history. Bangor or (Beannchar) was originally called Inver Beg, aka. The Vale of Angels, after Saint Patrick once saw in a vision whilst he rested here. 

Visiting some of the most infamous sites and characters dating back to 6th century, and through the years. Building of a town, Transitioning to a Port, Industrial milling town, Seaside resort and now, A NEW City.

Locals, day-trippers from Belfast and friend groups who like a puzzle will get a 3.4 km heritage walk from Bangor Castle past Malachy's Wall, the graveyard, St Comgall's church and the McKee Clock to the Puzzle Tree, with stories from the 6th century to city status. Allow just over two hours. Anyone wanting a live guide to quiz, or a shorter stroll for small legs, should pick something else.

Is this a self-guided adventure tour I can do in Bangor?
Yes. You play it on your phone, with no guide and no group to join. The app leads you from stop to stop, tells the story of each place and sets a puzzle in what is in front of you. It is free to play and you can start any time.
Does it work for team building in Bangor?
Colleagues and friend groups can play it together, solving a puzzle at each of the 14 stops on a 3.4 km walk through the city's history. It is free to play, there is no time slot to book, and the whole thing takes just over two hours.
Where is Malachy's Wall on the route?
Malachy's Wall is the fourth stop, reached after Bangor Castle, the Sundial and Bangor Bells, and just before the Graveyard. The app guides you there on foot and tells you the story of the place when you arrive.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
It starts at Bangor Castle and finishes at the Puzzle Tree, so it does not end where it began. The route is 3.4 km and most players take just over two hours, walking and puzzles included.
Can we pause and carry on later?
Yes. You can pause the quest at any point and continue later, so a coffee stop or a break between the McKee Clock and the Carnegie Library is no problem. There is no set start time either, so you play at your own pace.
