Veelgestelde vragen

What happened to the Umbrella Girl statue in Columbus?
German Village's original Umbrella Girl disappeared from Schiller Park in the early 1950s and was never recovered. This quest follows a fictional historian's unfinished investigation into the loss, mixing real local history with clues, and at the end you decide for yourself what may have happened.
Which vanished Columbus monument does this walk investigate?
It centres on the Umbrella Girl lost from Schiller Park, and also visits the Schiller statue and its story of a name taken away. Along the way it looks at a village that almost vanished, the man who saved it, and where fact ends and legend begins.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
You start at the Umbrella Girl in Schiller Park and finish at the final stop, The Final Evidence, so it does not end where it began. The route covers about 2.8 km through German Village and typically takes around 100 minutes, walking and puzzles included.
Is it suitable for kids?
Older children who enjoy a mystery tend to get the most out of it. Children under 12 should be guided by their parents, since the clues rely on reading the story and studying the places in front of you. The walk of about 2.8 km also suits kids who can manage that distance.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking is needed. It is free to play on your phone, so you can start whenever suits you, with no group to join and no guide to meet. You can pause partway through, take a break in German Village, and continue later from where you stopped.
