Over deze quest

Uncover a political conspiracy hidden inside an unfinished biography as you explore Heidelberg’s university prison, churches, historic squares, Old Bridge, and castle views.

Solve location-based clues with detective Ken Clever, expose the manufactured legend of statesman Hans Vane, and discover who was truly controlling his rise from behind the scenes.

Is dit iets voor jullie?

Voor wie het is

Mystery and detective-story fans, couples and small groups of friends will enjoy following detective Ken Clever through about 80 minutes of location-based clues, from the University Library past the Jesuitenkirche and across the Old Bridge to the Kornmarkt. It is free to play. If you would rather ask a live guide questions, or a plot about political schemes would bore your youngest children, choose a different walk.

Veelgestelde vragen

Where does the Heidelberg detective game start and finish?
You start at Heidelberg University Library and finish at Gasthaus "Zum Roten Ochsen", so you end in a different spot from where you began. In between you pass the Alte Universität, the Jesuitenkirche, the Old Bridge Gate and Old Bridge, the Marktplatz, Kornmarkt and Karlsplatz.
How long does it take and how far is the walk?
Most players take around 80 minutes, including the walking and solving the puzzles along the way. The route covers about 1.5 km through the old town, the university quarter and over the Old Bridge, and you can take longer if you stop to look around.
Are there any free quests in Heidelberg?
Yes, this one is free to play. You follow detective Ken Clever through the old town, solve clues hidden in the places in front of you and work out who was really controlling statesman Hans Vane's rise from behind the scenes.
Does the route pass the Kornmarkt?
Yes. The Kornmarkt is the eighth stop, reached after the Heidelberger Marktplatz and followed by Karlsplatz. The app guides you there step by step from the previous stop, so you do not need a separate map to find it.
Do we need to book a time, and can we pause?
No booking is needed. You start whenever you like on your phone, with no group to join and no guide to meet. You can also pause the game, for a coffee or a break, and continue later from where you left off.
