Over deze quest
Play a city exploration game in Nuremberg, the second largest city of Bavaria, first mentioned in a document in 1050! Solve challenges and unlock stories about the best-preserved medieval buildings in the city. Nuremberg became one of the most important cities in the Middle Ages when Emperor Charles IV proclaimed the first 23 chapters of the Golden Bull ‒ the constitutional law of the Holy Roman Empire.
Are you ready to go back to the Middle Ages in Nuremberg?
Is dit iets voor jullie?
Voor wie het is
Couples and families on a day visit can see the Kaiserburg, the Schöner Brunnen and the medieval dungeons at their own pace, solving puzzles along 3.6 km from Lorenzer Platz to the Ehekarussell fountain in about 3 hours. It is best done in daylight. If you want a live guide to answer questions, or nearly three hours on foot is too much for your group, choose something shorter.

Veelgestelde vragen
What is the Nuremberg game?
It is a self-guided walk through the medieval Old Town, played on your phone. The app leads you through 14 stops, including the Frauenkirche, the Kaiserburg, the Albrecht-Dürer-Haus and the rock cellars. At each one it tells the story of the place and sets a puzzle based on what is in front of you.
Where does the quest start and finish?
It starts at Lorenzer Platz and finishes at the Ehekarussell, the Marriage Merry-Go-Round fountain. It is not a loop, so you end up in a different spot from where you began. The route covers about 3.6 km through the Old Town.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take just under 3 hours, walking and puzzles included. You can pause at any point, stop for food or a break, and continue later from where you left off.
Is it good for kids?
Yes, it is recommended for families. It suits children old enough to walk about 3.6 km over close to three hours and to enjoy solving puzzles about castles, churches and dungeons. It is best played during the day.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together. There is no fixed start time and no group to join, so you can begin at Lorenzer Platz whenever suits you.
What makes this quest special compared to a regular old-town tour?
Instead of just hearing facts, you’ll hunt for clues in Nuremberg’s medieval streets and piece together stories of merchants, craftsmen, and knights. It’s interactive, like stepping into a history game.
I’ve been to Nuremberg before—will I still find new things?
Yes! Even locals and repeat visitors are surprised by secret courtyards, little carvings, and quirky legends you’d normally walk past without noticing.
Is this a good idea for a date night or anniversary?
Absolutely. Picture strolling under the castle walls at sunset, solving medieval riddles together, and finding hidden spots for a quiet break—it’s different and pretty romantic.
