Is there an alchemist walk in Tarifa?
Yes. This self-guided city game follows an alchemist's inner journey through Tarifa's old town, with clues and puzzles at places such as the Mercado cubierto, Plaza del Ángel and the Castillo Guzmán el Bueno. You play on your phone and start whenever you like, with no guide.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at Puerta de Jerez and finishes at Boquete de la Cilla, on a loop of about 1.5 km through the walled old town. Along the way you visit ten stops, including the Ayuntamiento, the Mirador, the Casa de la cultura, Iglesia San Mateo and Puerta del Retiro.
How long does it take, and can we pause?
Most players take around 1.5 hours, walking and puzzles included, over roughly 1.5 km. You can pause at any point and continue later, and if the weather turns cold you can step inside to warm up at almost any location on the route.
Can we play as a group, and in which languages?
One ticket covers the whole group playing together. The game is available in English, Spanish and Italian, with an option to listen to the text. Once downloaded you keep it, so you can replay it or switch language, and no attraction tickets are needed.
Do we need to book a time slot?
No. There is no group to join and no fixed departure, so you can begin at Puerta de Jerez whenever suits you, play at your own pace, and stop and pick up again later in the day.
