Veelgestelde vragen
Is there a treasure hunt I can do in Valletta?
Yes. You play Alberto, a historian with a centuries-old map, searching for a treasure the Knights of St John hid in the city. The app leads you from place to place, tells the story of each one and sets a puzzle you solve using what is in front of you.
Is this a self-guided walking tour of Valletta?
Yes, it runs on your phone with no guide and no group to join. You can start any time, pause and continue later. Stops include Independence Monument, City Gate, the Parliament of Malta, St. George's Square, Merchants St and the Grandmaster Palace Courtyard. Bring a charged phone or a power bank.
Does the route pass City Gate?
Yes. City Gate is one of the first stops, right after Independence Monument. From there the route continues to the Parliament of Malta and the Royal Opera House Site before heading on through St. George's Square and Merchants St.
How long does it take and where does it finish?
Most players take a little over two hours, walking and puzzles included, covering about 4.3 km. It is not a loop: after Lower Barakka and the Grandmaster Palace Courtyard, the quest finishes at Upper Barrakka, so you end up in a different spot from where you started.
Is it suitable for kids, and can we play as a group?
The puzzles are rated easy, so it works well for families with older children who can manage a walk of just over two hours. Friends, couples and families can play together, and one ticket covers the whole group playing on the same game.
