Over deze quest
Step into Winchester and test one of its most famous claims. As an investigator, you’ll examine whether King Arthur truly belongs to this city, starting at the Great Hall’s Round Table and moving through Roman walls, Saxon landmarks, and medieval power centers.
Each stop reveals what is recorded, what is displayed, and what is missing. By the end, you’ll piece together the evidence and decide where legend ends—and history begins.

Veelgestelde vragen
Is this King Arthur walk a good thing to do in Winchester?
It links many of the city's best-known sights in one walk: the Great Hall and its Round Table, Westgate Museum, Winchester Cathedral, the Alfred the Great Statue, Winchester City Mill, the Roman Wall and Wolvesey Castle. At each stop you hear the story and solve a puzzle in what is in front of you.
Where does the walk start and finish?
It starts at The Great Hall, home of the Round Table, and finishes at Winchester College. It is not a loop, so you end up about 2.2 km of walking away from where you began, near Wolvesey Castle and the Roman Wall.
How long does it take?
Most players take about an hour and a half, including the walking and the puzzles. There is no fixed pace, and you can pause the game and continue later if you want to stop for lunch or spend longer inside one of the sights.
Can we play as a group, and do we need to book a time?
Yes. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on a phone. There is no group to join and no guide to meet, so you do not book a time slot. Start whenever you arrive at The Great Hall.
Is it suitable for children?
It suits school-age children, roughly 10 and up, who enjoy puzzles and detective work, since you weigh evidence about whether Arthur belongs to the city. Younger children may need help with the clues and could find 2.2 km and about 90 minutes a stretch.
