Can I do a self-guided tour of the Lyon traboules?
Yes. The app leads you through Croix-Rousse traboules and courtyards, including the Rue Royale traboule and the Traboule and Cour des Voraces, telling each story as you go. Some traboules and courtyards open by pressing the security button on the digicode pad, so look out for it.
What will I see in Croix-Rousse on this walk?
Stops include Cour des Moirages, La Mère Brazier restaurant, the Rue des Fantasques viewpoint, a piece by Ememem, the Cour des Voraces, the Amphitheater of the Three Gauls, Place Sathonay and the Fresque des Lyonnais. Along the way you learn about the canut silk workers and Lyon's Roman past.
Where does it start and finish, and how long does it take?
You start at the Opéra National and finish at the Fresque des Lyonnais, so it is not a loop. The route covers about 2.2 km, and most players take just over two hours, walking and puzzles included. It is best played during the day.
Is it good for kids, and can we play as a group?
It is a recommended activity for families, and children who enjoy solving clues and exploring courtyards tend to get the most from it. One ticket covers the whole group playing together on one phone, and you can start whenever you like without booking a time.
Can we pause and continue later?
Yes. There is no guide or group schedule, so you can stop for a coffee or lunch, pause the game and pick it up again later from where you left off. That makes it easy to break the two hours up.
